Mia Audio

Privacy notice

This notice covers the Mia Audio mobile app for iPhone and Android. It is short, because the app collects nothing.

Last updated 21 August 2026 Applies to Mia Audio 0.1

The short version

Mia Audio collects no personal data of any kind. It has no account and no sign-in. It makes no network requests, so there is no server for your information to reach, and nothing about your library or your listening ever leaves your phone.

No data is collected, and no data is shared. There is no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, no tracking and no third-party SDK that transmits anything. This matches the app's privacy manifest, in which the list of collected data types is empty and tracking is declared false.

What the app stores, and where

Everything below stays in the app's own storage on your device. None of it is transmitted anywhere.

Your audio files
The files you copy into the app, or that already exist on the device. They are yours; the app only reads and plays them.
A library index
A local database of titles, artists, album names, durations and cover art, read out of the tags inside your own files so the app can list them.
Playback positions
Where you stopped in each audiobook, so it can resume. A number of seconds against a file on your device.
Your settings
Playback speed, skip interval, hidden tracks and playlists. Stored using the platform's standard settings storage.

Permissions the app asks for

On iPhone, the app requests no permissions at all. It has no access to your photos, contacts, location, microphone, camera or your Apple Music library. It uses background audio so playback continues when the screen is locked, and it exposes its own folder to Finder and the Files app so that you can put audio into it.

On Android, the app asks for permission to read audio files (READ_MEDIA_AUDIO), which is how it finds the music already on your phone, and permission to show notifications, because the media notification is the playback control. It runs a media playback foreground service so audio continues when you leave the app. It requests no other permissions.

Children

The app is suitable for all ages and collects nothing from anybody, including children. It plays only the files a user has placed on their own device; it neither supplies nor recommends any content.

Deleting your data

Deleting the app removes everything it holds — the audio in its folder, the library index, your saved positions and your settings. Because nothing is ever sent to us, there is no copy anywhere else, no account to close, and no request you need to make.

Changes to this notice

If a future version of Mia Audio gains a feature that uses the network — for example connecting to a library server of your own — this notice will be updated before that version is released, and the change will be described here rather than made quietly.
