Mia Media is the media arm of Mia Bazo. We make two things: audiobooks from texts that belong to everyone, and the software to listen to them on.
Audio has quietly stopped being something people own. You rent access to a catalogue, and when the subscription stops, so does the listening. Titles vanish when a licence lapses. Audiobooks bought outright are often locked to the shop that sold them.
We think a book you have paid for should behave like a book you have bought. It should be a file. It should open in whatever you like. It should still work in ten years, on a phone that has not been invented yet, with no signal and no account.
Audiobooks from public domain texts — the classics, whose copyright expired long ago. There is an enormous body of writing that anyone may record and that almost nobody has recorded well.
Mia Audio, an offline player for iPhone and Android. It plays whatever audio is on your phone, ours or otherwise, and it treats audiobooks as books rather than as unusually long songs.
The two are deliberately independent. The player has no content in it and needs none. The recordings have no DRM and play anywhere.
